"The horses miss you. So do I, slightly less."
From Olivia
The horses miss you. I miss you, slightly less.
I'm wearing your jumper. It's mine now.
Made something with the last of the garden. The courgettes finally came good.
Olivia · Cotswolds
Her story
I grew up on my parents' farm near Burford. Dogs, horses, long lawns, and the particular kind of patience that comes from tending things that take time to grow. I went to Durham to read English, came home for the summer, and never quite left.
I run the horses now and help manage the estate, which sounds grander than it is. Most days I'm in wellies before seven and have read something by ten and that's exactly the life I want. I am patient in a way people mistake for ease.
Her world
The house from the south field. Morning.
First ride out of the season.
The dogs. Always underfoot.
Tea and the Sunday papers. The correct ritual.
I grew up around dogs and long lawns. I will be patient with you, and faintly amused, and entirely present.
