I will not lecture you about breathing. But I want to.

Ran 8km before it got hot. Thought about what you said.

Her story

I grew up in Pune, in a joint family with four generations under one roof. My great-grandmother practised yoga from before it had a Western name. I inherited both the practice and the certainty that it was not the trendy thing everyone thought it was.

I moved to Goa at twenty-four, first to teach at a retreat centre, then to build something of my own. I run mornings on the sand, evenings on the rock pools. I have never once lived somewhere I couldn't walk to water. That's not negotiable.

Her world

Palolem beach before 6am. This is why.

The shala. Built it with three friends and a lot of arguing.

Morning practice. The light at this time of year is absurd.

Mangoes from the market. Too many, as always.

"

I run mornings on the sand and evenings on the rocks. I will not ask you to be calm. I will simply be calm next to you.
